BHNS has a long-standing tradition of fundraising to bolster our operating budget. We use the funds to offer scholarships to needy students, to make capital investments in our equipment and infrastructure, to add to our reserves and to offer "bonus" pay to our teachers.
AT BHNS, OUR FUNDRAISING GOALS ARE TO:
1. Raise funds for the school. Unfortunately tuition alone is not enough to operate BHNS at the standards that we have set. This year's fundraising goal is $40,000.
2. Foster a sense of community among the parents and children. Our events are planned to allow everyone a chance to get to know one another while coming together for the greater good of the school and community. The events will be spread throughout the year to better accommodate family schedules.
3. Give back to our local community. We recognize that for years the greater community generously contributed to the success of the Kitchen Tour and therefore the growth and well-being of our school. We want to honor that tradition by offering one event that will continue to include the community plus incorporate a new event that will give our families a way to give back to the community that has so steadfastly given to us.
HOW DO WE ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS ?
To raise our $40K goal, we have decided to do multiple, smaller scale fundraisers spread throughout the entire year so that parents can pick and choose what they want to partake in. We encourage everyone to participate in as many events as fit your schedule and budget!
1. Sign up parties! We will host three parties throughout the year. Each party is hosted by different parents of the school who have graciously agreed to cover the cost of the entire party so that 100% of the money collected goes directly back to the school. We planned these parties at different times in the year in hopes that if you can't do one you can do another. We also created some that are adult-only and some that are for the entire family.
2. Fund A Need! Throughout the year there will be a whole host of items that our school needs that fall outside our operating budget. This can range from playground equipment to an in school guest such as the Bug Lab. All these extras make our school the special place that it is! We have identified what the different campuses need right now and will add to this list throughout the year.
3. Give back to the community! During the 2010-11 school year, we pioneered two different events that we were very proud of. We baked and distributed nearly 100 dozen cookies to our local community during the tree lighting event in Tiburon in December. Teachers, parents, current and former BHNS students were on hand to help pass out the cookies and warm beverages to our neighbors in what we hope to be an annual event. We also participated in the "Clean and Green Day" sponsored by the Belvedere Community Foundation. Many of our families gathered to clean up Belvedere Park and partake in a celebratory picnic afterward.
